The Remote Gateway 9115 solution transparently extends Nortel Meridian digital telephones and all of their features and functionality, from the corporate Meridian 1/CS 1000 to the virtual home office. Users no longer have to go into the office to have enterprise-class features to conduct business.

This solution uses the Internet for Voice over IP (VoIP) voice and signaling services, and/or Circuit Switched analog network services in the event of Internet/network congestion, QoS issues, or the need for local 911 support. The primary route for voice connectivity between the Remote Gateway 9115 and the host Meridian 1/CS 1000 can be over the Internet using IP Telephony or analog line depending on customer requirements and preferences. If the IP Telephony method is chosen, voice quality is constantly monitored. Calls can be seamlessly and dynamically switched to the analog line connection if voice quality of service degrades without interrupting the calls in progress.
